Oliver Wright’s educational background is in communications studies, political economics and international law. His academic writings have been published in journals such as the Harvard International Journal of Press-Politics. Upon graduation from Cornell Law School with dual Master and Doctor of Law degrees, Oliver began his career as a corporate and trial lawyer at international law firm Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, which was voted the No. 1 Litigation Firm in the country in 2010. Through Gibson and subsequent private ventures, Oliver’s professional background spans private equity, distressed real estate, debt and equity capital markets, publishing, music, media and entertainment. Oliver is a General Partner and fiduciary in numerous High Net Worth and Private Equity investment vehicles, through which he purchases, manages and monetizes bulk REO assets and whole loan pools acquired from national banks, servicers, Fannie Mae and HUD.
Oliver Wright is also an author coming off of a publishing deal with Grove Atlantic (Cold Mountain, American Psycho, Black Hawk Down) and an underground hip hop producer. His next book is a Wall Street Roman-a-Clef working titled Screwed, Shafted, Burned, Betrayed: Scum and Villainy on Wall. Oliver’s first executive produced album, Music2BreakUp2, was released to strong reviews in 2009. The first of several singles from his most recent work is set for early 2012 release and features Jack Johnson along with underground hip hop luminaries including LMNO of the Visionaries, Grammy winner RBX, The Rhymesayer’s JFK, LD & Ariano, and critically acclaimed producer-rapper Evidence of Dilated Peoples. Oliver Wright’s corporate, legal and investment transactions and clients have gradually shifted over the years from the largest Fortune companies to smaller Private Equity and High Net Worth investment funds concentrated in distressed real estate and alternative assets. Oliver holds a portfolio of approximately 1000 single family homes and seller financed notes spread throughout the United States. Examples of Oliver’s other client engagements include:
